Welcome to JY Fly Fishing a Professional Fly Fishing Guide Service

Enjoy a day on the water.

Fly fishing is easier than you think.

Other than upgrades in our fly fishing gear, not much else has changed.  Patience, presentation and adapting to what is happening at the moment on the water around you is the same successful approach to a rewarding day.

JY Fly Fishing guide service offers float trips on the East and West Branch of the Delaware River.  Wade trips are on the Beaverkill River and the Willowemoc Creek. We also operate guided trips on the Housatonic River.

While fishing this beautiful water system, you will use a wide variety of techniques, including dry flies, wet flies, nymphing and streamers.  Adapting to the weather and conditions of the water you will be fishing will help to insure a successful day.

I believe we all should be stewards of the waters at our disposal and I am extremely committed to protecting the future of our fisheries we enjoy.

Along with my many years of fly fishing experience, I am also an Orvis Guide and graduate of the Western Rivers Guide School in Victor, Idaho.

Hunting With Streamers!

I started my fly fishing on the waters of N. Central Pennsylvania where I enjoyed the many limestone streams for wild brown trout and mountain freestone streams for wild brook trout. The excitement of catching a trout, especially a wild brown trout on a fly hooked me into a lifetime passion. Reading books and articles from the many fly fishing pioneers who shared their new techniques, simple nymphs patterns to tie and how to fish them were key. My father who I spent much of my time with fly fishing taught me how to read the water we were on and opened the door for landing fish throughout the water column.

After graduating college, I headed off for a career as a directional drilling engineer in oil and gas exploration working on drilling rigs all over the world. My work took me throughout the lower forty-eight, Alaska, the beautiful waters in the Gulf of Mexico as well as travel abroad to the Persian Gulf, Africa and South America. These travels offered me many interesting and exotic waters to enjoy and experience fly fishing.

If there is one thing I have learned about fly fishing... is that you never stop learning. Every day will bring a new experience on the water and hopefully you will learn from those experiences.

And let's not forget those streamers. There are just days when you want to hunt with streamers all day long. It's these days that can make memories of a lifetime.

In addition to JY Fly Fishing, I am a fly fishing guide with Orvis and an instructor for the Orvis Fly Fishing School.

At home I enjoy relaxing with my lab Jack. Jack also joins me on many of my float and wade trips. I enjoy getting away to float the South Fork of the Snake River, Teton River, Henry’s Fork, Madison River and Yellowstone.
